Dr Naved Sabir was born in Sikandra Rao (Then in Dist. Aligarh), UP in 1964. He obtained his B.Sc., M.Sc. and M.Phil. from A.M.U., Aligarh and Ph.D. from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. Dr Sabir, joined ARS in 1989 and has been working mainly in horticultural IPM, Nematode Management, Good Agricultural Practices etc. Presently, he is a Principal Scientist at CPCT, IARI, New Delhi. He has additional training courses in Food Safety Management Systems as well as in GAP. During the last 15 years Dr Sabir has engaged himself in the area of protected cultivation and has worked in more than 5 Nat. and Int. projects developing several technologies and published material. He is a Faculty of PG School of the institute also. He is the author/editor of several books in the area of IPM, GAP and Protected Cultivation. He has published more than 35 research papers in Nat. and Int. Journals, including two books on protected floriculture for vocational courses of NCERT and more than 25 Technical Bulletins. He has been an editorial board member in several journals and annual reports. He is the Founder and Executive Member of Indian Society for Protected Cultivation and life member of many scientific societies and has organized/co-organized three national level seminars and brainstorming sessions. Dr Sabir was Country Representative on GlobalGAP to Philippines Development Agency in 2014. He has travelled widely across India and several nations in official and personal capacities. He has been a member in several committees at institutional and national level and is a tech. expert and member in DST-TIFAC GOI, NIPHM, BIS, GOI and National Horticultural Board (NHB), Min. of Agri., GoI. Dr Sabir, is very popular among farmers and has delivered hundreds of lectures across country. Dr. Awani Kumar Singh, born in 1972 in Azamgarh, UP, did his B.Sc. Ag. from T.D., College, Jaunpur (UP) and M.Sc. Ag., Ph.D. in (Hort.) from RBS, College, Bichpuri, Agra (Agra, Univ. Agra) UP. Dr. Singh is presently working as Principal Scientist, CPCT, IARI, New Delhi. He has served in various capacities at KVK, Lohaghat, Champawat (under GBPUAT, Pantnagar) before joining as Senior Scientist at IARI. During the last 24 years he has contributed immensely in the area of protected cultivation cum Hi-tech. hort. in plain and hill areas. He has developed 8 high yielding varieties of vegetables crops besides disseminating technologies for greenhouse, polyhouse, tunnels, mulching, water harvesting, drip-fertigation, soilless-cum-hydroponics, vertical/organic/nethouse/integrated farming, off-season production technology while also working with large number of farmers.
He has published over 57 research papers and articles, in National and International journals of repute, several book chapters, abstracts, 4 books, 5 bulletins, numerous extension folders, training cum teaching manuals and published 500 news coverage about protected technologies. Dr. Singh handled more than 100 research projects. He has guided 4 M.Sc., / Ph. D. students in Veg. Science, and is an advisory member for good number of students. He is leading several courses in Hi-Tech and Protected cultivation of PG School. He has been awarded by several scientific bodies. He has organized 4 short course training prog. of ICAR/NAHEP as course director. He has delivered 35 TV talks and 13 Radio talks in DD1, DD-Kisan, FM-Gold, MGMG etc. He is life member of nine professional societies and is a Fellow of CHAI, Noni, RASSA, and Prog. Dr. Murtaza Hasan is presently working as a Principal Scientist at Centre for Protected Cultivation Technology (CPCT) ICAR-IARI, Min. of Agriculture, PUSA, New Delhi. He was born in 1971 in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. He has done his Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering from IARI, New Delhi and has 21 years experience in Research, teaching and training including six years experience in working in International Projects. His research areas are water resource management, protected cultivation technology, vertical and smart farming and pressurized drip fertigation.
He has been awarded Diploma from ETIFA NOVADADES AGRICOLAS, Spain and received International fellowship from MASHAV, Israel and World Bank for PDF assignments in Israel and Spain. Dr Hasan is the life member of ISAE, ISWM and ISPC. He is the faculty member in the Division of Agricultural Engineering, IARI and guided 12 M.Tech. and 3 Ph.D. students at IARI. Dr Hasan has coordinated 15 International and National funded projects funded by DST, World Bank, ICAR related to protected cultivation technology and water resource management. He has published more than 100 research papers, technical articles, reports, seminar proceedings, bulletins etc. He has given 50 Live and recorded Programs on Doordarshan, DD KISAN Channel for extension and technological support related to greenhouse farming, drip Fertigation and water resource management.
